Welcome to the School of Film and Photography!

  • UFVA 2014
  • MSU Film Program
  • MSU Photography Program

SFP offers immediate, intensive, production oriented programs for students seeking a Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis in Film or Photography, and the world's first Master of Fine Arts in Science & Natural History Filmmaking.

Located in Visual Communications Building (also home to Montana PBS and Montana Shakespeare in the Parks) at the corner of 11th and Grant in Bozeman, Montana, we offer excellent film and photography laboratories, studios, analog and digital facilities, and a fully equipped Black Box Theater.

The mission of the School of Film & Photography is to provide exceptional students with opportunities to learn the aesthetics and craft of film and photography and prepare them to meet the future challenges of an expanding media environment as informed thinkers and professionally trained creative artists. A new, more flexible curriculum permits students to explore their individual interests in film and photography and to develop their own voices. Through the years, we have established a national reputation as a center where young people successfully prepare for careers in their chosen areas of specialization.
